Principal Apologizes for Putting Ellen on School Dance Invitations

St. Andrew Elementary School Principal Nancy Matteo was “not thinking” when she put a photograph of Ellen Degeneres on an invitation for an eighth-grade graduation dance at her suburban Philadelphia Catholic school. Clearly! Never mind the fact that Degeneres has hosted the Academy Awards twice and the graduation dance is Oscar-themed, Degeneres is a lesbian. And that lifestyle does not jive with the Catholic Church. In response to backlash from parents, Matteo sent out an email apologizing for using the photo, saying it was “completely wrong” to use a photo of the comedian, calling her a “poor role model” and insisting she have “every single invitation returned and I will personally destroy them." Too late, Matteo. Too late.
