Supreme Court did not give a reason for rejection.

The Supreme Court declined a request to stop same-sex marriage in Oregon from the National Organization for Marriage. The organization appealed a May 19 decision to strike down the state's ban after state officials declined to defend it. The Supreme Court did not give a reason for rejecting the request. In January, the Supreme Court did issue a stay after a federal judge ruled to allow same-sex marriage in Utah, however in that case the request came from state officials. Since the Supreme Court's decision a year ago in United States v. Windsor, a series of judges in multiple states have struck down gay marriage bans.
