Speaking at a press conference Friday, the Ferguson, Missouri, police chief revealed that the name of the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown is Darren Wilson, a six-year veteran with no disciplinary record. The police had held out for nearly a week before revealing the name of the officer. The police also said that the officer was responding to a robbery that took place nearby. “A lot of the stakeholders had a big meeting conversation yesterday,” Chief Jackson told a St. Louis television station, “and then yesterday evening, and we made the determination that today is the day.”
