Things somehow got worse for the New York Mets. A former team executive is suing the team for sex-based discrimination, claiming she was fired for being pregnant as a single woman. Leigh Castergine, former senior vice president, claims in her suit that Mets COO Jeff Wilpon “became fixated on the idea that Castergine would have a child without being married.” According to the suit, Wilpon made it clear “he is ‘morally opposed’ to Castergine ‘having this baby without being married,'” in an all-male senior executives meeting. The suit also claims that Wilpon told Castergine she would make more money if she were married during her pregnancy.
