The forensic analysis of King Richard III has been completed, and scientists believe he was felled by no fewer than 11 wounds. The fatal injury appears to be one made by either a sword or battleaxe spike that was shoved 4 inches into his head at the Battle of Bosworth. He received a total of nine wounds to his skull, and two to the rest of his body. Some of the wounds may have taken place after he was already dead as part of a battlefield celebration. Researchers said they believe he was slung over a horse before his body was mutilated. Richard was the last king to die in battle, in 1485.
