An American working in Liberia for NBC News has been diagnosed with the Ebola virus. Ashoka Mukpo, a cameraman and writer, who is 33 years old and working for chief medical correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman, reportedly came down with symptoms Wednesday, feeling tired, achy, and running a slight fever. He immediately quarantined himself and tested positive for the virus late Thursday. “We are doing everything we can to get him the best care possible. He will be flown back to the United States for treatment at a medical center that is equipped to handle Ebola patients,” NBC News President Deborah Turness said in a note to staff. Snyderman and the rest of the news crew will also be flown back to the U.S., where they will be quarantined for 21 days, according to Turness.
