The world will find out the fate of Officer Darren Wilson at 9 p.m. Eastern tonight. The grand jury hearing the case of Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown has reached a verdict and the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney will hold a press conference announcing the decision. Regardless of whether Wilson is indicted, the prosecutor will release grand jury documents, including testimony, photographs and recordings.
Before the verdict, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon landed in St. Louis and held a press conference urging peace in the city that has been gearing up for violence. No matter the decision, "people on all sides [should] show tolerance, mutual respect," Nixon said. Meanwhile, authorities were striving to "protect lives, protect property, and protect the freedom of speech." He pledged to "find paths for progress" in the long run to avoid another tragedy of this kind.
