On Friday, the Twitter accounts of the New York Post and United Press International were apparently hacked and claimed a Chinese anti-ship missile had struck the USS George Washington. The Post tweeted from another account it was hacked.
The Daily Beast's Nancy Youssef was with the Pentagon's Joint Staff who reacted sarcastically to news the U.S. was at war with China.
“Oh really? We are?”
The AP's Twitter account was similarly hacked in 2013 claiming explosions at the White House had injured President Obama, faux news that shook global financial markets within seconds.
