NCAA Investigating Fraud at 20 Schools

The head of enforcement for the NCAA announced Tueday that the association is investigating allegations of academic misconduct at 20 universities’ athletic programs. The issues of misconduct include aid from professors, academic advisers, or other outside individuals. Eighteen cases are in Division I schools, one is Division II, and one is Division III. None of the schools involved were named. Some of the alleged misconduct is not outright, though. For instance, sometimes head coaches would tell their staff to “get this young man or woman eligible,” which creates an environment in which those individuals then cheat on behalf of current players or recruits, one NCAA official said.
