In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Madonna opened up about her tumultuous first year in New York City, when she said she was raped by a man who lent her money for a payphone. “I was going to a dance class and the door was locked and I needed money for the payphone,” she said. “[A man] gave it to me… he was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody.” The man allegedly persuaded Madonna to use a phone from across the street where he lived. “I was raped,” she said. When Stern asked whether she ever pressed charges, she said she didn’t. “You’ve already been violated,” she said. “It’s just not worth it. It’s too much humiliation.”
