Martese Johnson, a member of the UVA honor committee, was arrested Wednesday outside of a bar by three alcohol-control officers who allegedly pinned him to the ground and bumped his head against the pavement, producing a gash that required 10 stitches. “As the officers held me down, one thought raced through my mind: How could this happen? My head lay bloody, but unbowed,” Johnson said in a statement read by his lawyer.
