Apparently government efficiency is not the specialty of Indiana Republicans, as Republican Governor Mike Pence is now asking for new legislation to “clarify the intent” of a new state law many have said allows discrimination against gay people. Pence says he’s been discussing a clarification bill with lawmakers this weekend and expects it to be introduced this week. He did not provide details, but did say that making gay and lesbian residents a protected legal class is “not on my agenda.” Pence also claims that he didn’t expect “the hostility that’s been directed at our state.”
