Dashboard camera footage of North Charleston police officer Michael Slager pulling over Walter Scott was released Thursday night by South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division. In the footage, Slager is shown pulling up behind Scott’s car and asking to see paperwork for the car. Scott say sthat he has no paperwork because he has not officially purchased the car yet. Slager then returns to his patrol car, and immediately after Scott tries to get out of his car but ducks back in when Slager orders him to. A few seconds later, Scott takes off running. Scott’s father has said his son may have run away because he owed child support and did not want to go back to jail.
