The chilling video of a North Charleston police officer shooting an unarmed black man in the back now comes with a price tag of $10,000 to use in the media, a publicist representing the man who filmed it said Thursday. Cease-and-desist letters were mailed to news outlets this week from Australian publicity agency Markson Sparks. The video, showing former Officer Michael Slager fatally shooting Walter Scott, has become the latest focal point of national outrage over police brutality and has notched more than one million views on YouTube alone. Bystander Feidin Santana shot the video and turned it over to Scott’s family, but was surprised to hear about the fee. Feidin later recalled his lawyer, Todd Rutherford, had mentioned a potential fine. Rutherford said it was only fair Santana receive financial gain from something news outlets are benefitting from using.
