After a boat capsized off the Libyan coast overnight, as many as 700 people are feared to be dead. The boat was carrying migrants trying to reach Europe. The Italian Coast Guard has so far rescued 28 people. If the death toll is as high as feared, it would be one of the worst disasters in the Mediterranean and bring the total number of dead migrants in 2015 to 1,500.
