‘Love Locks’ to Be Cut Off Paris Bridge

Almost a million “love locks,” symbols of undying love that tourists often leave behind on Paris’s Pont des Arts bridge, will be removed Monday by authorities. The padlocks weigh almost 45 tons all together; part of the bridge collapsed last year under their weight. The 19th-century iron grates to which many of the locks are attached will be replaced with clear panels later this year.
