A Denver television station next week will air what’s almost certainly the first advertisement for a legal marijuana company in American history. The commercial for Neos, a company that sells vape pens filled with extracted cannabis oil, will have to air after 10 p.m. and can’t feature people using the product, to comply with Colorado’s strict marijuana advertising laws. KMGH, an ABC affiliate, will air the ad before Jimmy Kimmel Live, which was picked because state law requires a percentage of a media portal’s audience be aged 21 and older. “The world is changing, evolving, and we need to constantly take a look at things. After careful deliberations, we have elected to accept ads from what is now a legal business in Colorado and apply some of the same restrictions and standards that we do for similar adult products, like hard liquor,” said KMGH’s manager.
