The Ferguson Commission is set to release a 198-page report Monday recommending a series of economic, social, and legal reforms to allay racial tensions in St. Louis-area communities. After nearly 10 months of research, testimonials, and public hearings, the commission unveiled “Forward Through Ferguson, a Path Toward Racial Equity” online. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon launched the panel in November following public outcry over the death of unarmed black teen Michael Brown at the hands of a white Ferguson police officer. The report offers up “calls to action,” including consolidating the metro area’s police departments and municipal courts and creating a statewide plan for handling mass demonstrations in an effort to prevent clashes with police.
