Speaker of the House John Boehner will resign his seat in Congress at the end of October.
Boehner said at a press conference Friday that he didn't want to "go through" a vote to keep his spot as Speaker in the face of a likely Republican coup, though he said he could survive (albeit with Democratic votes). Boehner has been working to avoid a government shutdown that Republicans are threatening unless President Obama allows them to defund Planned Parenthood.
