The head of a U.S.-based anti-abortion group is being deported from Australia after losing a court appeal about his canceled visa Friday. Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, was set to embark on a speaking tour throughout Australia, until Australian politicians became concerned about Newman possibly encouraging violence against abortion providers or women seeking abortions (Newman co-authored a book that called for abortion doctors to be executed). Immigration minister Peter Dutton said in a statement that he told immigration officers to “expedite his removal.” “His detention and removal is entirely related to his decision to openly flout Australian law and travel to Australia without a valid visa,” Dutton said.
