Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson raised $23 million in year’s fourth quarter, despite dropping in national polls, with Sen. Ted Cruz close behind with $20 million during that same period. Carson spokesman Doug Watts confirmed the amount which is an increase from the $20.8 million he raised in the third quarter. Carson has fallen in national polls in recent weeks from second place among Republican candidates to fourth. In contrast, Cruz had jumped to the top of most Iowa polls over the last several weeks in addition to steadily rising in national surveys, where he and other GOP candidates all still trail real-estate mogul Donald Trump.
