Chef Benoît Violier was found dead in his home in Switzerland on Sunday, hours before the 2016 edition of the Michelin guide was set to be unveiled. Violier, a French-Swiss who previously earned three stars from the elite dining guide, ran the Restaurant de l’Hotel de Ville, which was named best in the world in December by La Liste. Violier, age 44, was reportedly discovered to have shot himself, officials near Lausanne said. Several world-renowned chefs expressed remorse, including some who said they were “destroyed” by the news.
