ISIS claimed responsibility for a series of explosions that left at least five Egyptian soldiers, a military officer, and a civilian woman dead Thursday in the Sinai Peninsula, Reuters reports. Several bombs were planted on armored personnel carriers and remotely detonated, security and medical sources said. At least 15 others were injured in the blasts. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks online after the incident. Egypt continues to battle an insurgency led by ISIS’s Egyptian branch, Sinai Province. The country’s military spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment following the attack.
