The wife of Johnny Depp, actress Amber Heard, pleaded guilty Monday to falsifying quarantine documents after allegations she smuggled her two Yorkshire Terriers, Pistol and Boo, into Australia while visiting last year. Prosecutors dropped two charges of illegally importing an animal. Heard’s lawyer said his client made a “terrible mistake” and thought the dogs’ travel forms had been handled by Depp’s staff, adding that she did not try to deceive authorities. The 29-year-old and her husband, who were present for Monday’s hearing, appeared in a minute-long apology video that was played before the packed courtroom. The couple visited last year while Depp was filming the fifth installation of Pirates of the Caribbean.
