Cheryl Mills, a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, briefly left a room where she was being interrogated by an FBI investigator because the inquiry reportedly broached an off-topic issue. Her lawyer and the Justice Department agreed that the issue would be left off-limits during the investigation into Clinton’s private email server. The questions that were deemed unacceptable pertained to procedure used to produce emails to the State Department so that they could be released publicly. It was considered confidential as part of attorney-client privilege, Mills being a lawyer herself. Mills and her lawyer returned to the room shortly after walking out.
