The European Union claims Google has been unfairly promoting its own shopping service and edging other services out in its Internet searches, and the European Commission wants the company to pay for it. The commission could hit Google with a 3 billion euro ($3.4 billion) antitrust fine in the near future, according to a recent report. The case has been ongoing since 2010, and three attempts at reaching a compromise with the EU watchdog have failed.
