The number of Americans without health-care insurance fell to 9.1 percent at the end of 2015, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released Tuesday. Some 7.4 million people gained coverage in 2015, building on the 8.8 million added to the rolls in 2014. The CDC also said states that chose to expand Medicaid have, on average, lower uninsured rates. The uninsured rate has dropped significantly in the two full years since President Obama’s Affordable Care Act has been implemented nationwide, and 16.2 million fewer people were uninsured at the start of this year than in 2013.
