Women in so-called elite jobs face a much greater pay gap with men than the national average, The Wall Street Journal has found. In a study published Tuesday, the newspaper came to that conclusion based on pay rates in 446 occupations using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, including doctors, compensation managers, and personal financial advisers. There are a variety of factors that contribute to the higher wage gap in these occupations, the Journal noted, including maternity leave preventing women from advancing their careers.
