The 20-year-old convicted Stanford rapist’s full statement to Judge Aaron Persky has been released, giving insight into the thinking behind his assault. After Brock Turner received a guilty verdict, Persky doled out just six months of prison time for raping his victim behind a dumpster while she was unconscious. “I’ve been shattered by the party culture,” Turner claimed. “The night of January 17th changed my life and the lives of everyone involved forever.”
“I can never forgive myself for imposing trauma and pain on [redacted]... I shake uncontrollably from the amount I torment myself by thinking about what has happened.” Turner laments that he lost two jobs based on reports about his criminal trial. “I wish I never was good at swimming or had the opportunity to attend Stanford, so maybe the newspapers wouldn’t want to write stories about me.”
