Oregon Court: ‘Nonbinary’ a Legal Gender

An Oregon court ruled on Friday that “nonbinary” is a legal gender. According to The Daily Dot, the ruling came after Portland resident Jamie Shupe petitioned for the official gender identity change. Using two letters from primary care doctors, Shupe and an attorney argued that the Army vet should be classified as nonbinary. Shupe underwent gender transition in 2013, at age 49, to become female; and then petitioned to go from female to nonbinary.
