In a foreign policy address the day following the worst mass shooting in American history, Donald Trump reiterated his previous idea to temporarily ban Muslims (something which was diminished to a "suggestion" in recent weeks) from entering the United States and suggested suspending immigration from a wider swath of countries.
"I will use this power to protect the American people. When I am elected, I will suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats," he said in his remarks, which included a number of swipes at his opponent, Hillary Clinton, including claiming he is more pro-LGBT than she is.
In his address, Trump also erroneously claimed that people were aware of the planned attack from the San Bernardino shooters and seemingly made a mistake by identifying Orlando shooter Omar Mateen as an "Afghan." That line was not in his prepared remarks.
