Funk legend Bernie Worrell died Friday at age 72 after a battle with cancer, according to his Facebook page. Worrell was the purveyor of Parliament-Funkadelic and a key contributor to the development of R&B. A keyboardist who began playing the piano at age 3, he also was a member of the expanded Talking Heads and an inductee to into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Worrell was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in January.
