French President Francois Hollande extended the state of emergency in the country for an additional three months, after it was supposed to end July 26, in reaction to the attack in Nice. “We have seen extreme violence and it’s obvious we must do everything to fight this terrorism,” Hollande said in an address to the nation. He said that the “terrorist nature” of the event was “undeniable.” Hollande also vowed to strengthen France’s role in the fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
