WikiLeaks announced Tuesday that it would offer a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer of Seth Rich, a 27-year-old Democratic National Committee staffer who was shot near his townhouse in Washington, D.C. last month. Police have said Rich was killed in an attempted robbery. Still, those speculating on the Internet have said he may have been targeted because of his work with the DNC, postulating on message boards that he could have released emails to WikiLeaks that caused the resignation of the committee’s chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Others still, TheWashington Post reports, have said he could have been helping the FBI investigate wrongdoing in the 2016 presidential election. Rich’s father has said he’s offended by the “bizarre” theories.
