Donald Trump pounced on the news that FBI Director James Comey was looking at additional emails related to the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server. Trump at a New Hampshire rally praised Comey and promised Clinton would face consequences for her use of a private email server.

"Hillary Clinton's corruption is on a scale that we have never seen before," Trump said. "Perhaps finally justice will be done," he continued. In the past, Trump has criticized the Department of Justice and the FBI for not charging Clinton after an extensive investigation into her use of a private email server. The FBI said there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing for Clinton's use of the server, including the transmission of information marked as classified.

Other Republicans, including Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, were quick to jump on the news as well. Ryan said Clinton “has nobody but herself to blame,” and reiterated his call for Clinton to no longer receive classified intelligence briefings (a privilege given to her as the Democratic presidential nominee). “This decision, long overdue, is the result of her reckless use of a private email server, and her refusal to be forthcoming with federal investigators,” Ryan said in a statement.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy also released a statement saying: “I call upon the FBI to conduct this investigation expeditiously, and thoroughly brief the American people of its findings in a completely transparent manner.” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said his Democratic challenger, Patrick Murphy, “will need to let Floridians know if he still trusts Hillary Clinton 100 percent, as he has said in the past.”
