A federal jury has awarded $3 million to Nicole Eramo, an administrator at the University of Virginia, after they concluded that she was defamed in a Rolling Stone about a gang rape at the university, which has been discredited. Eramo sought $7.5 million after she said that the article, "Rape on Campus," portrayed her as a villain. The jury concluded on Friday that the magazine and its publisher Sabrina Rubin Erdely were responsible for libel with actual malice.
