Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump’s campaign manager who is now a top adviser to the president-elect’s transition committee, said on Sunday morning that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid should “be very careful” with his public condemnations of Trump.

In the days following Trump’s stunning victory over Hillary Clinton, Reid characterized Trump as “a sexual predator who lost the popular vote and fueled his campaign with bigotry and hate.” Conway said the remarks were disappointing.

“I find Harry Reid’s public comments and insults about Donald Trump and other Republicans to be beyond the pale,” Conway said on “Fox News Sunday,” adding: “He should be very careful about characterizing somebody in the legal sense. He thinks he’s just being some kind of political pundit there, but I would say be very careful about the way you characterize it.”

Conway denied that she was suggesting Trump would sue Reid, saying she is simply asking for “responsibility and maturity and decency for somebody who has held one of the highest positions in our government in a country of more than 300 million people.”

Later Sunday, Reid’s deputy chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, accused Conway and the rest of Trump’s staff of attempting to “silence a discussion of the acts of hate and threats of violence being committed in his name across the country.”
