Nestel is nominated for an Arts/Entertainment Investigative award for his report on “Hollywood’s New Dr. Feelgoods.” Brandy Zadrozny and Ben Collins are up for best Celebrity Investigative for their article on “Kris Jenner and the Shady Crew Behind Her $105,000-a-Year Business School.” Malcolm Jones is nominated for best Obituary with his memorium “Merle Haggard Sang Us All Back Home.” Lizzie Crocker is nominated in the Humor Writing category for her article “It’s Very Tedious Living Like Kate Hudson.” Tim Teeman earned a nomination in the Industry/Arts Hard News category for his interview “Yoko Ono: I Still Fear John’s Killer.”
Three Daily Beast writers are up for awards in the Industry/Arts Soft News category, including Kevin Fallon for his profile “Just Keep Prancing: How Five Gay Male Dancers May Change America,” Melissa Leon for her interview with “Comics Legend Grant Morrison,” and Tim Teeman for his story “Rose Styron: The Truth About Life With Her Husband, Literary Legend William Styron.” Nominated for best Celebrity News are Melissa Leon for her interview “Gillian Anderson: I Was Offered Half Duchovny’s Pay for ‘The X-Files’ Revival,” and Aurora Snow, who reported “Two More James Deen Accusers Tell All: ‘There Was So Much Blood.’”
In the best Arts and Entertainment Feature category, Tim Teeman is nominated for his look “Inside Gore Vidal’s Cliffside Palace of Sex, Scandal, and Celebrity.” He also earned a best Commentary Analysis/Trend nomination for his essay “The Cruel HIV Stalking of Charlie Sheen Takes Us Back to the Ignorant 1980s.” In the Commentary Diversity/Gender category, Marlow Stern won a nomination for “How to Fix the Racist Oscars—and Hollywood.”
