Hillary Clinton’s campaign is teaming up with the Green Party’s Jill Stein to push for a recount in several key states. Marc Elias, the Clinton campaign’s counsel, said in a statement that the campaign was not contesting election results so much as it was trying to “ensure that it is fair to all sides.” Jill Stein raised more than $2 million for a recount in Wisconsin last week, and Green Party officials were able to make the deadline late Friday. Stein said she was planning to demand recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania next week, and Clinton’s campaign says it will follow suit. In a statement on Medium on Saturday, Elias said the campaign had not previously sought a recount because of a lack of evidence of hacking, “but now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides.” “If Jill Stein follows through as she has promised and pursues recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, we will take the same approach in those states as well,” he said.
