Sofia Vergara Sued by Her Own Embryos

Actress Sofia Vergara is facing a right-to-live lawsuit filed on behalf of her embryos—named “Emma” and “Isabella” in Louisiana court papers. The lawsuit is just the latest bizarre twist in the legal battle between Vergara and former fiancé Nick Loeb, who has fought for custody of the embryos that were made by the couple while still together in 2013. The lawsuit against Vergara lists James Carbonnet as a plaintiff and the “trustee” to Vergara’s female embryos, according to Page Six. The plaintiff claims that since they were never born, the two embryos were deprived of an inheritance from a trust created for them in Louisiana, the report said. He asks that the embryos be given to Loeb so that they can be born and live off of the trust money. Vergara and Loeb split up in May 2014 after two rounds of in vitro fertilization treatment failed, and Loeb has sought to get control of the embryos since shortly after the two parted ways.
