61 Bodies Recovered After Mosul Airstrikes

At least 61 bodies were recovered in Mosul, Iraq, on Sunday after it was revealed the as many as 200 civilians were killed in airstrikes. The U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS in the region has acknowledged that it carried out the strikes, and said it is investigating. U.S. Central Command has said it wants to “determine the facts surrounding this strike and the validity of the allegation of civilian casualties.” Officials were working to determine whether the recovered bodies were casualties from the airstrikes, or from an ISIS bomb. It is also possible that some of the bodies were of ISIS fighters. An Iraqi official later told CNN that a U.S.-led airstrike hit a truck bomb, contributing to the death toll.
