President Donald Trump signed legislation Monday that repealed a series of Obama-era rules that protected internet users’ privacy. The rules, which had yet to take effect, would have required internet users’ consent before internet service providers collected information on users’ location, browsing history, or information on their finances, health, or children. The legislation to repeal these rules passed Congress last week with no Democratic support. Privacy advocates have denounced the new policy as a major setback for consumers.
