The U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence sent letters inviting FBI Director James Comey, National Security Adviser Adm. Mike Rogers, CIA Director John Brennan, intel director James Clapper, and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates to testify before the panel. In a press release on Friday, the committee announced that it had sent letters to the officials on Thursday inviting them to testify on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Comey and Rogers were invited to appear at a closed hearing; Yates, Clapper, and Brennan were invited to testify in the open. These hearings would essentially be a rebooting of the hearings that were stalled after committtee head Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was revealed to have visited the White House for alleged evidence that President Trump was “incidentally” surveilled by President Obama. Nunes eventually recused himself from the committee’s ongoing investigation.
