As the second wave of a global “ransomware” cyberattack spread to at least 150 countries over the weekend and into Monday, the National Health Service in Britain—the first high-profile target last week—was still struggling to recover. The initial attack’s malware, dubbed “WannaCry,” hit Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Spain, India, and Japan, paralyzing computers in factories, banks, government agencies, transport systems, and hospitals. FedEx Corp. in the U.S. and Russia’s interior ministry were two of the larger targets. A French plant for carmaker Renault said it wasn’t reopening Monday to prevent further damage while technicians handle the aftermath of its attack. In Japan, Hitachi and Nissan were both reporting problems. In China, at least 29,372 institutions have been infected.
