The law enforcement investigation into collusion between Russian officials and the Trump campaign has reportedly identified a current employee of the White House as a significant person of interest, according to a new Washington Post report. The probe has now reached into the highest levels of the executive branch—someone “close to the president,” according to people familiar with the investigation, the Post writes. Up until now, investigators were primarily interested only in people who had wielded influence in Trump’s campaign but have since left, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The speed and intensity of the investigation is expected to accelerate in the next few weeks, according to the report.
