Chinese Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo Dead at Age 61

Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist Liu Xiaobo has died. Officials said Liu, Beijing’s most famous political prisoner, who was jailed in 2008 for supporting democracy in China, died of multiple organ failure Thursday at age 61. He was released from prison in June on medical parole to recieve treatment for late-stage liver cancer. He is the first and only Chinese national to win the Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded to him while he was in prison in 2010.
