The E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle had a wider extent than previously thought, health officials from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday. Investigators examining the outbreak connected to the fast-food burrito chain have seen cases in nine states, with Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Illinois added to a group that was already comprised of California, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, and Washington. Forty-seven of the 52 people who contracted E. coli have said that they ate at Chipotle before becoming sick.
