They don't mince their words in New Zealand. The country's privacy commissioner has launched a furious attack on Facebook in the wake of the Christchurch mosque attacks, calling the company “morally bankrupt pathological liars” who enable genocide and livestream murder. Facebook has been criticized for allowing the livestream of the mosque shootings to be viewed 4,000 times before being removed by moderators. In a string of now deleted tweets, commissioner John Edwards said: “They are morally bankrupt pathological liars who enable genocide (Myanmar), facilitate foreign undermining of democratic institutions ... [They] allow the live streaming of suicides, rapes, and murders, continue to host and publish the mosque attack video, allow advertisers to target ‘Jew haters’ and other hateful market segments, and refuse to accept any responsibility for any content or harm.” Edwards was responding to an interview given by Mark Zuckerberg to ABC News in which he said he wouldn't be changing the nature of livestreams in response to the attack.
