CNN has imposed “strict” new publishing rules for digital articles related to Russia following the network’s deletion and retraction of a story last week, BuzzFeed reported on Monday. An email from CNNMoney’s executive editor Rich Barbieri warns the newsroom that “No one should publish any content involving Russia without coming to me and [CNN’s premium video content VP] Jason [Farkas]. This applied to social, video, editorial, and MoneyStream. No exceptions.” According to BuzzFeed, the new rules apply to multiple areas of the network. CNN deleted an article that claimed Senate investigators were probing a “$10-billion Russian investment fund whose chief executive met with a member of President Donald Trump's transition team four days before Trump's inauguration.”
