Jurors for Bill Cosby’s upcoming sexual-assault trial will be chosen from the Pittsburgh area, about 300 miles from the courthouse where it will be held, authorities announced Monday. The decision comes after Cosby’s defense team requested outside jurors due to the publicity surrounding the case. The panel will now be selected from Allegheny County for the trial due to begin in early June at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a former Temple University employee in 2004, an allegation he denies. Sexual-assault accusations have stacked up against the comedian, with nearly 50 accusers alleging that they’d been drugged in incidents dating back to the 1960s.
